ROSEMARY’S BABY… This martini will make your head spin!

Two wonderful things came together last week, creating a third wonderful thing…  hence the theme “Rosemary’s Baby!” First, I found a really special recipe for rosemary-infused simple syrup from Creative Culinary, one of my favorite food bloggers. Second, I received complimentary bottles of Kanon Organic Vodka. I can find this in Manhattan, but it is not yet distributed in the Lehigh Valley. Kanon is a top-shelf Swedish vodka and its entire production process is not only organic but totally sustainable. So, happy hour is saving the planet! yay!

I always like to suggest interesting drinks to the chefs who use my Fieldstone Farm apple cider (I take quality control very seriously) and I made a really fantastic martini-style drink. Please meet: Rosemary’s Baby!

Rosemary’s Baby

Ingredients:

Ice

1.5 oz. Kanon Organic Vodka

1.5 oz. rosemary simple syrup

1T. fresh lemon juice (1/2 lemon, squeezed)

3 oz. Fieldstone Farm apple cider (ok, if you can’t get MY apple cider, please use a high quality, fresh cider from your local farmer’s market! Remember, it freezes really well too!)

garnish with lemon wheel & rosemary sprig

Directions Fill cocktail shaker with ice. Add all the ingredients and strain into a chilled martini glass. Float a lemon wheel with a sprig of rosemary on top to garnish. Drink. Repeat.

The lemon wheel with rosemary sprig garnish made me “lol” – it actually spins around on top of the drink… the devil made me do it! You can see I made this on the weak side – my head happens to spin around and around very easily – but you can adjust the ratio to your liking. This drink is incredibly fragrant, beautifully colored, and tastes like a breath of heaven on a crisp day. Rosemary redeemed…I pray you enjoy it!
